Nancy Singh is a visual artist and researcher working across photography and film, between India and Britain. Her practice investigates the intersections of gender, identity, race, culture and memory. Working through personal and political lived experiences, she uses image-making to examine the shifting conditions of visibility, erasure, belonging, and social tension.

Her work often draws from nostalgia, inheritance, and the everyday realities through which larger historical and political structures become visible. Rather than treating culture as a fixed category, Singh is interested in how it is lived, performed, remembered, and contested across domestic, institutional, and public spaces.

Currently engaged in critical philosophy and transdisciplinary studies at The New Centre for Research & Practice, Singh works across creative, academic, and research contexts. This theoretical engagement informs and translates into her creative practice, particularly through her interests in decolonial critique, media theory and politics of representation. She has also been a lecturer at UWE Bristol. She graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Communication from Middlesex University and an MA in Media and Communication from Goldsmiths, University of London.

Singh received the Young Woman in Art Award — Women in Art Prize for her ongoing project, I Went Back To See Them. She was also a recipient of the One Kilburn Community Fund by Camden Council, London, for her short film Galactic Icons.
